guilt

The other day you slept on the carpet
You fell down a hole we dug with our hands
half-blind
no mind

we went down there to find it all

The other day you wept to accept it
Choking on dry tears that drop in the sands
No light
He’s right

(yet)

i’m not sure how i see God anymore
Man, he was so distant for a time
God, He was so inconsistent for a time

how am i supposed to call this?

my guilt is relentless
i thought that would be love

Feverish and dry you escape from the others
Those ridiculous sentiments we knew for a time
You follow and plead
We fall on fresh knees
I thought we had seen it all

oh man, i thought we had seen it all

Buried for my transgression
Made alive by confession

oh God, i thought i had seen it all in the cave where i left you
